The World: What This Card Actually Means
The World is completion, the end of a cycle and the moment before the next one. Not a trophy, but a threshold. Here is what the card shows in a reading.
The World is the last card of the major arcana, and the most complete. It is not a trophy you win. It is a threshold: the end of one cycle and the quiet moment before the next begins.
What the image shows
A dancing figure inside a wreath, two wands held lightly, four creatures at the corners, the whole scene held in a circle. The picture is completion, integration, and movement that has arrived somewhere whole.
Upright: the cycle closing well
Upright, The World describes a situation that has reached a genuine completion. A project finished, a lesson integrated, a chapter that can now close without loose ends. It is a card of arrival, and it often appears right before something new begins, which is why it can feel both like an ending and a beginning.
Reversed: the last step not taken
Reversed, it often means a cycle is almost complete but something is holding the last step back. A closure you have not allowed yourself. A project that is done in every way except the one that would let you feel done. It can also mean you are rushing to the next thing before this one has actually finished.
How to use it
The World asks you to notice what is complete, and to let yourself feel it before you move on. See the full card meaning, or ask the cards what cycle is closing in your situation.
