Tarot for Relationships: What It Can and Cannot Tell You
Relationship readings are the most requested and the most misused. The cards describe your side of the dynamic, not your partner's mind. Here is how to ask so the reading is actually useful.
Relationship questions are the most common reason people reach for tarot, and the most common reason they leave disappointed. The problem is almost never the cards. It is the question.
The mistake: asking about their mind
"Does he love me" and "what is she thinking" are the two most asked and least answerable questions in tarot. They ask the cards to read someone else's interior, which they cannot do. What the cards show is your relationship to that person, which is a different and more useful thing.
The question that works
Ask about the dynamic, not the other person. "What am I not seeing in this relationship" and "what is my part in how this is going" pull readings that land. They describe something you can act on, because they are about the one person in the situation you actually control.
What a relationship reading is good at
It is excellent at naming the pattern you are stuck in. The push and pull you keep repeating. The thing you are tolerating that you have not named. It is good at showing you where you are giving more than you are receiving, or the reverse.
What it is not good at
It cannot tell you whether to stay or go, and it cannot tell you what the other person will do. Anyone who promises those is selling certainty, not a reading. The honest reading gives you a clearer picture of the relationship and lets you decide.
Try it
Frame your next relationship reading around your own side of it. Start a three-card reading with a question like "what is the pattern here, and what is mine to change". That question the cards can actually answer.
